Migration means the movement of people from one place to another for work or life. People usually migrate due to distancing themselves from conditions or factors such as poverty, disease, political issues, food shortages, natural disasters, war, unemployment, and lack of security, or to achieve better education and higher income.
He noted: Tomorrow, December 7th, the international conference "Methods of Developing Research Projects and Providing Financial Resources for European Union Projects within the Horizon 2020 Framework" will also be held at Isfahan University with the aim of introducing areas of scientific and technological cooperation between the European Union and other countries.
The Austrian Ambassador to Tehran also said at the conference: Iran and the European Union face many challenges regarding migration, and one of the goals of holding this event is to share experiences, define and implement joint research projects, and analyze data.
"Stefan Scholz" called this conference one of the most important events in the cooperation between Iran and the European Union and added: Our goal is to reach a joint policy on migration by holding this conference with countries like Iran.
Scholz, referring to the joint meetings held in previous years between Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Iranian Foreign Minister, and "Federica Mogherini," the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, said: In these meetings, 16 axes for joint cooperation between Iran and the European Union were defined and specified, one of which is about migration.
The Austrian Ambassador to Tehran added: Holding this event is the beginning of joint activities on the mentioned axis in Iran.
He also pointed out that Iran has entered two European research projects called "Horizon 2020" and "Erasmus Plus" since 2017, and noted: Today's conference was held in line with the Horizon 2020 plan, and another gathering will be held tomorrow on joint research projects between Iran and the European Union and the exchange of professors and students at Isfahan University.
"Erasmus Plus" is an educational scholarship program supported by the European Union, which has been launched with the aim of organizing student exchanges between universities and higher education institutions in Europe and other parts of the world.
The Austrian Ambassador to Tehran called the migration conference a scientific meeting and said: It is expected that good research projects will be defined at this event, and a meeting will be held in the European Union in the next few days to review the results of this conference.
He added: It is necessary to consider issues such as challenges, opportunities, and fundamental solutions regarding legal and illegal migration, networking in various dimensions, and international exchanges in joint research projects.
The President of Isfahan University also said at this event, stating that the phenomenon of migration can be examined from various dimensions: Iran has a good position in providing services to immigrants and can share its experiences with the European Union in this field, as well as preventing illegal immigration.
Houshang Talebi added: This conference helps us to share these experiences and conduct joint research projects on them.
He also called Isfahan University one of the top universities in Iran at the national and international level and added: Cooperation with international institutions and foreign universities is one of the programs of this university in the field of its internationalization.
