According to the university correspondent of Student News Agency, Mansour Gholami, the Minister of Science, in the margins of the sixth National Conference on Education and Human Capital Development, stated in an interview with reporters, referring to the increase in tuition fees for non-profit universities: Usually, the boards of trustees of universities determine and approve the amount of students' tuition fees within the framework of a 10 to 20 percent increase, and this increase changes annually, not every semester.

He continued: In the current situation, when costs have increased somewhat more, the boards of trustees are trying to act with more care in determining tuition fees so that the cost for students does not become heavy.

The Minister of Science, Research and Technology, in response to the university correspondent of Student News Agency regarding the observance of the necessary standards in recruiting the required forces of the ministry and relevant organizations, said: Currently, the Ministry of Science has no place to recruit employees and is more focused on training forces, but regarding the recruitment of faculty members, which involves teaching and research, for several years, emphasis has been placed on them passing workshops on research methods, teaching methods, and scientific ethics (meaning research and educational ethics) at the time of their employment.

He stated that faculty members should take the aforementioned mandatory workshops along with general workshops at the beginning of their activities, and stated: Each of the members must go through these stages to change their status.

Gholami, about the activities carried out in line with the discussion of "universities free of tobacco", stated: Our universities, in the sense of the university space, dormitories, restaurants, etc., are free of tobacco, but if people in the corners of university spaces do not take the recommendations seriously, they should be warned and if they do not comply, they should be dealt with.

He said: Our managers in universities are obliged to implement the established disciplinary frameworks, which are not very strict.

The Minister of Science, stating that religious rituals and Islamic and Iranian cultural issues must be observed in university spaces, continued: Managers are obliged to address this issue. The circulars that are repeatedly transferred from the ministry to the universities indicate that such a concern exists and that young people and students must maintain their position.

According to Gholami, disciplinary action should be taken against students in the final stage and after help and guidance.

Gholami also stated about the research budget of universities: Although the heads of universities are not satisfied with the budget that is being approved for them for the next year, the government's resources are at this level, and we hope that the government will become richer next year so that more help can be given to universities, which of course I will also follow up on this issue.

He emphasized: Universities spend more from their income each year in setting their research budget than the government budget for research, and the effort of university managers will certainly be to help the research sector first from their income sources for the next year so that this sector does not face serious damage.
