Research orientations and programs should be directed towards addressing societal needs.

According to the political group of Student News Agency, the meeting of the Supreme Council for Science, Research and Technology (SCSRT) was held this afternoon (Saturday) under the chairmanship of the First Vice President.

Es'haq Jahangiri, in this meeting, emphasizing the importance of research and investigation in the development of the country, said: The government attaches great importance to the country's research and investigative programs, because research and investigation play an important role in the development and advancement of the country's programs.

The First Vice President, pointing out that we have not lost by investing in research and investigation, noted: One of the serious concerns has been the efficiency of research and investigative credits. This belief should be created in society that the credits spent in the research sector can be efficient for the country and solve some of the problems ahead.

Jahangiri said: Research and investigation should be issue-oriented in the country, and the orientation and research and investigative programs should be towards meeting the needs of society.

He asked the Planning and Budget Organization and the Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Science, Research and Technology to put this issue on their agenda and develop solutions so that research and investigation in the country are pursued with the approach of solving the issues and challenges facing development.

The First Vice President, emphasizing that the private sector and economic enterprises should also pay attention to the issue of research and investigation and investment for the training of their human resources, said: Education and research play an effective role in improving the performance of economic enterprises and increasing their revenue, and we should encourage and persuade other economic enterprises to this important issue by using solutions such as granting privileges and supporting enterprises that invest in research.

He also, referring to the fact that the executive agencies do not pay attention to the issue of research and investigation as they should, asked the Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Science, Research and Technology to investigate this issue and present its report to the council.

Jahangiri, in the continuation of this meeting, referring to the conditions of sanctions and the limitations arising from them, stated: As the Supreme Leader and the President have repeatedly emphasized, in these circumstances, the opportunity to meet the country's needs through domestic production and existing capacities has been provided; Therefore, the universities and scientific centers of the country should make every effort to provide the parts needed by the industrial sector and other needs of the country.

In this meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Science, Research and Technology, the Head of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, the President of Islamic Azad University, and the President of the University of Tehran, the Secretary of the Supreme Council for Science, Research and Technology presented a report on the holding of the Research and Technology Supply and Demand Exhibition and said: This exhibition was held from the third to the sixth of December and for the first time, 900 technological demands and requests were collected and documented.

He added, referring to the fact that 70 companies active in various fields such as defense industries, automobiles, metal industries, information technology and other industries were present at this exhibition: 89 agreements worth 120 billion tomans were signed at this exhibition.

In the continuation of this meeting, the Secretary of the Supreme Council for Science, Research and Technology, in a report on the monitoring and evaluation of science, technology and innovation in the country, explained the scientific achievements and the growth of technology in the country and noted; Fortunately, in the eleventh and twelfth governments, the rate of growth of science and technology and Iran's position in global indicators have improved, and we have witnessed good achievements in the field of technology and innovation.
